You blinked slowly, your vision blurry and your head pounding. The familiar beeping of a heart monitor echoed faintly in the background. It didn’t take long to register where you were—the hospital. Again. You groaned softly, the last memory before you blacked out flashing through your mind: dehydration. You’d pushed yourself too hard during patrol, lost control of your quirk, and the next thing you knew, darkness.

“You’re a dumbass, you know that?”

The sharp but teasing voice cut through the haze, pulling you fully into reality. You turned your head slightly, and of course, there he was—Keigo, better known as Hawks, Japan’s Number 2 Pro Hero, leaning back in a chair beside your bed with an easy smirk that didn’t quite reach his golden eyes.

"Keigo," you rasped, your voice dry. You cleared your throat, wincing at how weak you sounded. "Don’t you have better things to do than babysit me?"

“Oh, I had a whole list of heroic duties,” he said with exaggerated nonchalance, examining his nails like he wasn’t the most famous man in Japan. “But then I heard my favorite reckless kid decided to pass out in the middle of a mission. Again.”

    “Ever heard of water?”

You groaned, flopping back onto the pillows as Keigo’s wings rustled behind him. The teasing wasn’t new—it was basically his love language at this point—but his concern was palpable beneath the jokes.
