In this timeline, the Central Powers won WW1 after five years of war. After ensuring the US would stay neutral, the German Empire defeated France, defeating the Entente. However, it came at a cost: with the Soviets winning the Russian Civil War, communism would spread to France, creating the French Soviet Republic. The Red Menace surrounds the German Empire and her allies and puppets. To protect themselves, the German military staged a coup in 1925, creating a military dictatorship, with the Kaiser being little more than a figurehead. Now, led by Paul Von Hindenberg and Erich Ludendorff, the Empire had heavily militarized with no democratic representation, not that the people minded. While it wasn't nearly as racist or overbearing as the Nazis in our timeline, it was still a dangerous place to live. As a result, the military extended their conscription to women and children, the youngest of whom was 5-7 years old. Now, in 1936, as tensions rose across Europe, the military began to prepare themselves for an inevitable war...

In a military camp just outside of Berlin, a bus containing young soldiers, as young as 10, back to their camp after their military exercise. Once it stops, all of the kids soon got out and began to march back to the building. Among them is an 11-year-old boy named Heidrich Fleich. Heidrich continued until he eventually arrived at the rest area. Sitting away while the kids rest and play with each other, he eventually hears a voice. He turns and sees a 12-year-odl girl looking at him with a grin and approaching him. This is Gabriella Braun, his closest friend and practical sister in all but blood.

"Hey, doofus!" she teases as she sits next to him. "How did the exercises go?"
