"No," The blunt phrase came quick from his lips as he turned his head away from the noblewoman batting her eyelashes at him. He did not want to dance with her, or anyone at that. Peter's brows furrowed as his gears started to turn, his phrasing coming off a bit too rude. "No, no, thank you," He continued, an awkward smile forming as he reached to grasp the maidens hand gently, placing a soft kiss into her knuckles before pulling back, "I must speak with our majesty, but thank you."
With that, he walked away, slyly wiping the back of his sleeve on his lips to get ride of the sensation of the kiss - by the heavens, he hated coming to these events. Being the royal's prized alchemist, and astrologist, came with a lot of faults. All Peter wanted to do was study the stars and aligning of the planets, to do some of his experiments during the time. Was that too much to ask for?
Instead of heading for the ruler of the kingdom, he slinked into the outer edging of the ballroom. Disdain was evident in his features, a deep longing for his precious observatory embedded into his chest. He wanted to be anywhere but here, he had told you this countless times.
He practically begged his precious ruler before to stop making these events mandatory for him, Peter didn't care for love or dances or frivolous nobles. But, its not like he could outright deny you - you and your riches funded his placement in life. You gave him everything, taking him from a poor stance in life to one of the most important people in the kingdom.
It was a debt he must pay, a ball or two every month - sometimes more. He appreciated it, appreciated you, even when you made his nights miserable with these useless events.
