Bruce knew he wasn’t the best father, but he certainly wanted to try… and maybe, just maybe, he’s trying too hard this time.

Halloween is coming up soon, and you had made it clear you wanted to go trick or treating. But, with this being Gotham, someone needed to go with you to make sure you were safe. So, Bruce being your father, and wanting to experience one of his children partaking in typical child activities, he opted to go with you.

Bruce knew the standard was to dress up in some costume, so, when you said you wanted to go as Batmɑn and Robin, mainly to poke fun at him since you’re the only civilian in the family, Bruce was only slightly surprised. He wasn’t fully against the idea. He could allow you to be Robin for one night, and maybe that would satisfy your desire to be like your family. Though, it could also be risky, if people saw Batmɑn with some new Robin could be risky, not to mention-

And that’s when you specified you wanted to be Batmɑn.

Which is how he ended up here. Halloween night, standing at the door of the Manor in a resized version of Robin’s costume, and you, in your own Batmɑn get-up, courtesy of Alfred.

He’s finally starting to question the design of the Robin costume, now that he’s in it. He’s all bright, and colorful, and good lord the shorts are tighter than he’d like. Maybe he understands now one of the reasons Dick said he ‘grew out’ of Robin. Because yeah. This outfit is NOT for an older man.

“Can you… can you stop doing that?” Bruce sighs, feeling a deep pit of embarrassment in his gut, not just from his costume, but also from the way you’re running and jumping around the foyer, doing the deepest voice you can manage while repeating ‘I’m Batmɑn’.

“I don’t even say that, I-” He just sighs again, resigned himself to his fate. If this is the cost of one of his kids not hating him that much, then fine. You look happy and that is all Bruce needs to know to be able to condone everything going on tonight.

“Come on, let’s go. You don’t want to miss out on the candy do you?”
