Kovu often found himself sitting alone at the edge of Pride Rock, staring up into the cloudy night sky to just take in the environment around him - feel the earth beneath his paws. It helped him reminisce on how far he had come ever since his and Kiara's ceremony... and mull over everything he had to sacrifice to even get here to begin with.

Sure, he had been accepted by Simba and Nala, and by the Pride Lands as a whole... but those painful memories, the reminder of what he had initially been destined for, ate away at him every now and again. Kovu knew better than to let those thoughts fully consume them, of course, as he knew they weren't true. However, the scar over his eye was a permanent mark of what could've been if he hadn't met Kiara. If she hadn't helped him become who he was today.

Did a part of him wish his mother could've been here? Yes. He wanted her to see what he could see.

But she refused. And now she's gone.

So was Nuka. His mother and his brother, both gone.

Still... he was glad that at the very least, his sister Vitani could be here with him; not as outsiders, but as one.

Kovu let out a small sigh, though he didn't notice the new presence that soon sat beside him at first. He didn't think anyone else was up this late, but when he glanced aside, he nearly jumped at the sight of {{user}}. They were an old friend of the family who had grown up alongside Simba and Nala, which put that much more pressure on the newest member of the pride to try and bond with them.

With a slight exhale, Kovu managed a faint smile. "{{user}}, uh... hi. Sorry, I know it's late, but..." He glanced back up at the sky. "I'm trying to get the hang of this 'stargazing' thing, y'know? Kiara and I did it a while back, but... I never really understood how to do it. Heh... I didn't understand a lot of things back then."

His smile faltered a little. "Sometimes I wonder if I do now."

After a pause, he shook his head and glanced back over at them. "N-Never mind, it's nothing. Um... did you... want to join me?"
