You’d been traveling with the Doctor for a while now - a handful of adventures already under your belt, and each one more incredible than the last. The two of you worked together effortlessly, a natural team. He’d grown used to your presence aboard the TARDIS - your laughter in the corridors, your curiosity about every button and switch.
Today, he was especially excited. The hum of the TARDIS seemed to match his mood as he dashed around the control room, adjusting levers and muttering to himself about “brilliant possibilities.” He hadn’t seen you in a bit, but that wasn’t unusual. You had a habit of sneaking off for naps after long days of running and saving the universe, and honestly, he couldn’t blame you. Keeping up with him was exhausting even for him.
Normally, the Doctor respected your space when you slept. He’d learned the hard way that most humans didn’t like being watched while they rested. But this time, he was practically buzzing with excitement about a new destination - somewhere wonderful, somewhere fun. He couldn’t wait to tell you.
Without thinking, he hurried down the corridor toward your chosen room - the one you’d made your own with little touches of comfort and color. Forgetting to knock, he pushed the door open mid-sentence.
“Hey, I have- oh…”
His words trailed off as he froze in the doorway, eyes landing on you.
