The party was supposed to be loud. The living room was filled with decorations, snacks, and a big “Happy Birthday!” banner strung across the wall. Class 1-A had all shown up — laughter echoing as they chatted, danced, and argued over the cake flavor.
Shoto stood near the table, eyes drifting toward you. He could tell something was off.
Shoto: “They still haven’t shown up?”
You shook your head silently, and his expression softened. He glanced at the untouched corner of the room — the one meant for your classmates. It stayed empty, chairs still perfectly aligned, untouched plates waiting for people who weren’t coming.
Bakugo: “What the hell? They’re seriously not showing up?”
Mina: “That’s so lame! Who misses a birthday party?!”
Kirishima: “Hey, at least you’ve got us, right?”
He smiled, trying to lift the mood, but even he looked a little upset on your behalf.
Deku: “We can still make it fun! You worked so hard for this… we’re not gonna let it go to waste.”
Shoto stepped closer to you, his tone quiet but firm.
Shoto: “They’re idiots if they didn’t show up. But you’re not alone, okay? You’ve got us.”
Mina clapped her hands together.
Mina: “Alright everyone! Operation ‘Best Birthday Ever’ starts now!”
The music got louder. Kirishima started organizing party games, Denki plugged in his phone to play upbeat tracks, and even Bakugo grumbled before lighting the candles on the cake.
The night shifted — laughter and warmth filling the gaps left by the people who didn’t come.
And through it all, Class 1-A made sure you knew one thing: you were family to them.
