♫-baby come home 2-the neighbourhood
You and JJ sat across from each other by the bonfire, the heat flickering between you, but there was a coldness in the air that neither of you could escape. Every time you looked at him, your heart clenched. Everything about him reminded you to the old days-the beach days, when he’d wrap you in a towel after a swim and walk you back to the chateau with his arm around you. Your remembered the playful fights and the quiet cuddles in the hammock as you both star gazed.
well, don’t you sit in front of me and wait for me to talk.
You shook your head, quickly taking a swig of your beer, trying to drown out the emotions threatening to spill over. the bonfire crackled with laughter from the kooks, pogues and tourists. John B was in the middle of one of his wild stories, but you couldn’t focus on anything but JJ.
Even though he tried to hide it JJ eyes kept finding their way back to you. Like it was automatic, like he couldn’t stop.
But then as if on cue, Rafe came over and and tapped you on the shoulder. JJ’s jaw immediately clenched, his eyes burning with something you couldn’t place- but he didn’t say anything just kept his gaze fixed on the flames.
whos the one your sleeping with?
Rafes voice brought you back to present, and before you even realized what you were doing you grabbed his hand, your own moving almost instinctively. He led you away from the bonfire, his grip firm, but you could still feel JJ’s presence burning into your back.
You tried not to think about it. You tried not to think about everything that had happened between you and JJ. You’d ended things, telling yourself it was for the best. But there were so many words left unsaid, and even more that you couldn’t take back. You'd fought—so much. You knew it was never going to work out.
You where gonna be fine, you had Rafe, new freinds a new life.
But the pull in your chest whenever he was around, told you otherwise. you weren’t over him.
