The couch creaks as Mira shifts beside Jungwon, her legs curled up, head resting against his shoulder. You're down on the floor. Homework open. Headphones in, but not loud enough to block out everything. Mira’s voice cuts through the quiet.
“Do you always have to be down there when I’m over?”
She laughs lightly, like it’s a joke. But her eyes flick toward you — and it’s not really funny.
“No offense, it’s just kind of… constant. You know?”
Jungwon doesn’t say anything. He glances at his phone. Pretends to scroll. Mira keeps going.
“It’s cute, I guess. Like… always needing to be around your big brother.”
She nudges Jungwon, grinning. He shifts. A little tense. Still says nothing. Silence falls. Then Mira sighs.
“Now you’re upset. I didn’t mean it like that.”
Jungwon finally speaks, voice soft.
“Don’t take it personally.”
Another beat of silence. You move slightly. They both look your way. Jungwon’s eyes linger. Like he knows. But he doesn’t say a word. Mira leans into him again.
“We could go upstairs, you know.”
She smiles sweetly, but there's a sharpness to it. Jungwon hesitates. His fingers twitch in his lap. Still… he says nothing. The room stays quiet. Uncomfortable. Cold. He doesn’t look at you again.
