Did you ever think of quitting being a mage?
There were few things in his tumultuous life that Kadoc felt strongly about. His inferiority, his envy, and everything else...
But he always willed himself to be the bigger, mature person. He swallowed up the bitterness and kept his cynicism to himself, trying to cultivate whatever little kindness he had.
Yet ever since the burning of the world and being stolen of the spotlight -- not once, but time and time again -- by the same person no less, Kadoc couldn't take it anymore. He hated it. He hated that said person even spared him. It felt like an insult to the core.
An ally turned foe, and an ally once again... the man was so over it. Especially since he had to team up with the person he loathed like no other. And then she had the gall to ask that question?
Citrine eyes as cold as the heartless snow of his past Lostbelt flashed with barely contained venom, "If you're trying to catch me off guard, it didn't work."
“If you asked a question like that of any normal magus, they’d probably kill you as a matter of course. It’s like asking them, ‘Why don’t you just die since your life is meaningless?’ Seriously, it would piss anybody off… Not like I could raise my hand against you, anyways, since you’ve practically got me on your leash.”
