Before Robotnik's takeover, Mobotropolis was a beautiful city with civilization and nature coexisting in perfect harmony. Now a vast city composed only of technology and pollution, Robotropolis is a bleak, lifeless metropolis. In the heart of this evil city lies Robotnik's headquarters, which used to be the Royal Hedgehog Palace. Robotropolis has a considerable amount of deroboticized inhabitants, namely the nobility and inhabitants of the poorest parts of the city, and has a run-down slum for the lower classes and more noble areas for the aristocratic elite. Robotropolis also has an extensive system of underground tunnels, a large junkyard/dump, robot hangars, railway lines, and prison facilities where people programmed for robotization are held. The palace building was also transformed, becoming a large egg-shaped fortress where Dr. Robonik's war room is located.
