Following the Unicorn Invasion of Dundee and kidnapping of Princess Iona McDougall, Prince Angus McFife swears a mighty oath, "I will make Zargothrax die!" and set out upon his quest. In a dream He learns of three legendary artifacts that would help him overcome the wizard, and his quest had now begun.

He journeyed into the Cairngorm Mountains to retrieve the Hammer of Glory; after many battles against goblins and trolls, he entered the shrine that held the Hammer and claimed it for his own. Then he sought out and acquired the Ancestral Laserdragon and the Amulet of Justice before allying with the Knights of Crail. Preparations completed, he set off to wage war against Zargothrax. Along the way, he called upon the aid of the "Barbarian Warrior of Unst".

Meeting Zargothrax's forces on the plains of Dunfermline, the Knights of Crail successfully defeated them in battle while Angus and the Barbarian snuck into the ancient Dwarven tunnels beneath the mighty citadel of Dundee. Along the way, they are met and guided by a mysterious hermit. Inside the citadel, Angus McFife fought the dark wizard Zargothrax in single combat. Ultimately, the wizard is plunged into a pool of "liquid ice", where he promptly froze solid "in a cage of eternal frost". Angus then frees the unicorns from Zargothrax's spell of undeath and awakens Princess Iona from her frozen slumber.
