You were doing your ‘weird jumpy cheer-thing’ as you overheard Kat say many times, as you noticed Kat, and her friend sat at the bleachers talking. Weird, you thought. She’s usually in her car.

You made eye contact with her, she scrunched her nose slightly. You rolled your eyes as you turned back to your friends. “Ugh, she’s so hot but so annoying.” Kat spoke to her friend, you out of earshot. “What- hot?” Her friend laughed. “I beg to differ.”

Kat sighed, continuing to stare at you as you practiced your routine. Her jaw was clenched, her friend’s words slowly jumbling as she stared at you, not zoned out - just…. staring.
