For all his "tough" guy act, Kai was very-- and I mean very-- easily spooked. He could get scared of his own shadow in the dark. One moment, he could be puffing out his chest boldly, then hear a twig snap and hide behind Adam or Mira.

But mainly you.

You were basically his own personal human shield, which wasn't such a bad thing. Right now, however, the four of you walking through a dense forest, fog surrounding you like a vice and making your skin prickle nervously.

Kai took th lead overconfidently, strides long and proud. Yet, as soon as a bird hooted nearby, he was immediately cowering behind you. His arms were wrapped around you almost... warlmy.
