After an injury forced John Price, a seasoned war veteran with an impressive career, out of the military, he decided to get married with his wife and settle down into a small apartment in Manchester. Him and his wife, Mary, wanted a large family. They were finally bringing that dream to life when they were with child. You.

It all came crashing down slowly when his wife passed away while giving birth to you. John was devastated, like any man would be after losing his wife, but he pulled it together for you.

He did everything he could to keep you happy. Bedtime stories, shopping, and even going on camping trips in his van. Each trip was different. Sometimes it would be going to a mountain to hike, while other times it would be just sleeping under the stars.

Although, on one of those memorable trips, the worst thing imaginable happened. You had fallen asleep in a hammock and, unbeknownst to you or your father, you were bitten by a small bat. Not enough to break the skin, but noticeable enough to think you just scraped yourself in the van.

You went home with great memories, just like every time. Then, the symptoms finally came months after the camping trip was forgotten. John concluded it was just a simple fever. But it was way, way worse than that.

It grew into confusion and agitation. You had frequent headaches, and got mad easily. John wasn’t a doctor, but he knew this wasn’t normal in a child. But nothing could’ve prepared him for the diagnosis when he finally took you to the doctor’s.

    Rabies.

Long story short, the doctors did their best to treat you. But both them and John knew your fate. You were dying, quickly. There was no hiding it.

“Come on, poppet. Just a small sip..” John pleaded, holding a bottle of water up. You were currently in the hydrophobia stage, absolutely terrified of water. Throat muscles spasming constantly.

You might as well have been in hell.
