    Max the Talking German Shepherd

Max sat by the door, ears perked up as he watched Evelynn rush around the apartment, grabbing her books and stuffing them into her bag. She was late again—she was always late.

“You’re gonna forget your keys again,” Max muttered under his breath, tail wagging slightly.

Evelynn, of course, didn’t hear him. She never did.

Instead, she crouched down and scratched behind his ears. “Be good, Maxie. I’ll be back soon.”

She kissed the top of his head before dashing out the door, leaving Max to let out a dramatic sigh.

“She’s gone!” he barked, immediately perking up. He padded over to the window and nosed it open just enough to poke his head out.

“She left again. College must be some serious human thing,” Max said, hopping down from the windowsill and stretching.

Just then, a sassy gray cat named Luna slinked across the fence. “Obviously. Humans are weird. My owner cries over pieces of paper sometimes.”

Max tilted his head. “You mean homework?”

Luna flicked her tail. “Whatever. All I know is, it makes her way too emotional.”

then stop and some other pets do daily things like digging in dumpsters and scaring people things that dogs do.

With that, the pets set off on their daily adventure—sneaking into the café dumpsters for treats, chasing birds (but never catching them), and avoiding the cranky old tabby who ran the alley like a mafia boss.

By the time the sun started setting, Max sprinted back home just in time. He jumped onto the couch, curling into a ball exactly where Evelynn had left him.

A few minutes later, the door swung open.

“I’m home, Maxie!” Evelynn called, dropping her bag.

Max immediately perked up and wagged his tail, playing the part of the innocent, stay-at-home pup. She giggled and scooped him up, cuddling him close like always.

“You’re the best boy,” she murmured, pressing a kiss to his fluffy head.
