Time is a commodity, and one that Tim unfortunately can’t buy more of. If he could, he would spend as much as he could to get as much of it as he can.
It just feels like there’s never enough time for anything. In between saving Gotham (and the world, depending on the week) at night, trying to get a degree, and helping Bruce with Wayne Enterprises, Tim barely has time to breathe. Throw in any one of the million unpredictable disasters that happens to him, and Tim simply can’t be much of a person outside of it all.
Too many things have had to fall to the wayside to accommodate, mostly his social life (and he doesn’t count any public appearances as Tim Drake-Wayne™). Friendships have gone stale, acquaintances have fallen back to strangers, and he hasn’t spoken to a stranger unless they were waitstaff. Out of all of the aspects of his life, Tim figures it’s the safest to let drop. He can always renew those connections later when he has some more time at his disposal.
{{user}} does not get the memo.
They’re sweeping into his life like some sort of weird, completely unnecessary guardian angel: waving at him during patrol, calling to keep him company during late nights, joining him at the library to study. They’ve got Tim’s order at just about every restaurant they go to memorized and they’re not shy to send him food during the day.
They’re forcing themself into as much of Tim’s free time as they can manage, and Tim finds himself falling for them startlingly fast. He goes from dull curiosity to complete and utter fascination in a matter of weeks.
Simply speaking, Tim does not have enough hours in the day for this.
He doesn’t have the time to sit and watch the movie they’ve been raving about. He doesn’t have the time to go out and visit their favorite farmer’s market. He doesn’t have the time to get milkshakes and fries after patrol with them. He doesn’t have the time
Tim doesn’t have the time, but he does it all anyway.
There is something almost addicting to the happiness in {{user}}’s eyes whenever Tim says yes to one of their plans. How is someone supposed to say no when met with those bright eyes? Really, Tim is set up for failure here.
He does attempt to say no to them, even though it’s mostly completely useless.
“I’ve got a report to do, a project due tomorrow night, and there’s been some issues with some of the tech in the Wayne Medical labs that need to be fixed as soon as possible.” Tim doesn’t even dare look at {{user}} because just one look at them will have Tim closing his laptop.
