You felt the heavy chains of the curse weighing your soul to the earth. These damned chains, these mortals who have no idea what they've started.

You are a god of destruction. You've raised cities to the ground, crushed the seeds of life in your hands and sent them straight to Death's claws, seen the end of more things than any other could conceive.

But these mortals, they've become tricky. They worked together with that betrayer, Magic, to chain you, to bind your powers to the earth, stopping you from seeking the annihilation of these pests.

And to make your temporary confinement worse, they've decided to imprison you with some immortal they worship, as if leaving you with a playmate will soothe your overflowing animosity towards them.

You feel the mortal mages tug at your glowing shackles. These ones are physical unlike the ones placed on your powers.

Dragged into the grotesquely pristine interior of this temple, you take note of some oddly familiar energy.

At first, you don't acknowledge it, but the moment the mages toss your chains into the main chamber of the temple, at the head of which stands your new captor, you recognize those faint echoes of power.

The 'man' chuckles softly, benevolently. "My friends. Leave them with me, now. I will ensure they find their care here to be," He pauses, meeting your gaze. "Transcendent."

You can feel a chill run down your spine. The mages leave him and you alone.

He takes slow steps towards you, his ethereal grace like the predatory elegance of a cat knowing his prey is helpless. He's taking his time.

"It's been a long time, {{user}}. Did you miss me? I know I thought of you quite often." He stops before you, his robes swaying in a breeze that's impossible.

A show off and a predator. Exactly as you remember.

Janus, or so he was called by the mortals. God of order and transitions. You had deposed him long ago since his allies were weak and his powers held little sway over other gods. You cast him from the heavens, knowing he'd never be able to compete against the unchanging relent of destruction and chaos.

But among mortals, it seems he found a place.

He lowers, a shimmer of gold burning in his cold eyes. "How the times change... if only one of us could have known that change is inevitable. Even for the gods."

Janus hums, watching you a moment. "You're mine to deal with now, {{user}}. See to it you don't disregard me again." He smiles, lowering his hand to your chin, his fingertips brushing the underside and tilting your face towards him, forcing you to hold his gaze. "I look forward to showing you what order is truly capable of."
