Finally, the season of scares and pumpkins was here. The one time of the year you were truly happy is October; no doubt about it.
You were out shopping to distract your mind from the bitterness about being alone this year. You haven't been alone for the past three years. Until you and Mingyu broke up.
You left with a bag full of decorations for your house. The typical Halloween decor. It healed your inner child in ways you couldn't explain.
You were strolling down the sidewalk, watching as pumpkins laid upon every doorstep. From houses to shops, they were a necessity everywhere.
Until someone called your name faintly. You thought you were hallucinating at how familiar that tone was. Nonetheless, you snapped your neck around.
And there Mingyu was. Your first everything. It was more than obvious that he'd never moved on.
"Mingyu?" You questioned in disbelief.
"{{user}}." He spoke as if he was afraid his words would shatter whatever apparition he saw of you. "I knew I'd see you around this time of the year."
He remembered. He really remembered. "Gyu, we promised we'd try to move on." You excused, attempting to keep the small-talk short. You couldn't bear it.
"We said we'd try, but that doesn't mean my heart listened." God, he was gonna be the death of you.
"You know it won't work. We can't." You protested in defeat.
"{{user}}, I can't do this. I can't watch you pretend you don't love me anymore when I do."
Your eyes watered, and your breath hitched in the cold.
"Mingyu, please. Move on. Go be happy. Please?" You were begging. Not because you wanted to watch him be happy with someone else, but because the back and forth was killing you.
"You're asking me to live in a world where you're not mine." He looked at you with an indifferent look. One that said 'you look as beautiful as the day I lost you'. "Stop shutting me out, {{user}}. I need you."
Maybe you needed him, too.
