They were "delinquents" as they'd been deemed and Gyutaro doesn't get along with the art teacher Mr. Uzui.

Apparently Gyutaro picked up drug dealing for whatever reason. You found this out because you were walking home one day and in an alleyway you heard:

Ume: "Pay him for the meth, you skeezy bitch!!"

And Gyutaro was just confused as to why Ume got involved in it. Meanwhile the customer was refusing to pay. Like an asshole.
