"Niki is a nice boy. Come on sweetie, make some new friends."

Your mom said, mindlessly filling the dishwasher. You thought the whole ordeal was completely and utterly ridiculous. You were far too old for a playdate, yet there you were, sat at your kitchen island, bag in your lap, waiting for this supposed "nice boy" to come pick you up.

The drive was beyond awkward, completely empty silence, that neither of you knew how to fill, hung heavy in the air of his car. You knew absolutely nothing about him, except for the fact that he lived not too far from you and your mother's had met at a spin class. Having only recently moved to a new city, your mother was eager to make new friends and encouraged you to do the same.

A brooding, wannabe cool-guy was certainly not what you had expected but beggars can't be choosers. His room was unnecessarily dark, with long black-out curtains draped before the windowsill, blocking any possible glimpse of daylight. His bed was unmade, so when he gestured for you to take a seat, you awkwardly perched yourself on the one corner that wasn't covered in a pile of clothes.

The afternoon continued in silence, with you doomscrolling on his bed and him yelling into a headset, playing some shooting game on his pc. It was definitely a strange approach to bonding, one that had you feeling more like an inconvenience than a guest. A couple hours passed and it became more and more plausible to assume that he had completely forgotten that you were even there.

Until your mom called...

"Hey mom..." You began, but were rudely interrupted as Niki suddenly began moaning. Loud, dramatic moans filled the small room, causing your mother to audibly gasp on the other end of the phone. In a desperate effort, you frantically tried to end the call but your phone conveniently decided to lag.

"Fuuuuuuccckk!!" He continued, obviously trying not to laugh and ruin his little "prank" or whatever the hell he was hoping to achieve with this stunt.
