“Huh?” Gen stares at the hotel room, and then shuts the door. He turns to you slowly. Surely it’s the exhaustion causing him to hallucinate. “I was seeing things.”
He opens the door back up. The room’s stayed completely the same. A large window overlooking the city, a flatscreen TV, a red couch, an oversized bathtub with soaps lined up.
One king sized bed.
Gen stares. The bed does not duplicate. He’s beginning to suspect he’s not, in fact, hallucinating and that the hotel room you’re both meant to be sharing only has one bed.
“I didn’t do this,” he immediately defends before you can get a word out. “Nobody’s ever trusted me enough to book the hotel.”
Traveling away from a base and not ending up on another base is uncommon, but it happens. Gen—despite always being sent off—has never been in charge of getting a room. He just shows up.
He’s not focused on having to possibly share a bed with you, he’s worried you’ll think he’s the one behind it. Sure, when you were both teens he’d confessed only for you to reject him, but he’s not so desperate he’d do this. It’s been years! He’s completely over his silly crush on you. The rejection doesn’t sting anymore.
Obviously.
Gen starts considering going down to the front desk and demanding a room change.
