    Darkness

The square in the village resembled a butcher's hut. Wherever you looked, you saw death. Faces that had quickly turned pale, and eyes that saw nothing. Mouths open in surprise, faces frozen in an expression of astonishment. Warm blood, flowing and that which had already congealed. Moans. Someone's sobbing. Agony.

    Darkness...

Blood was pouring into your eyes, you could only move the right half of your body, the rest was probably crushed. A corpse was lying on you, you wanted to scream at the sight of a face twisted in unimaginable pain, but no sound escaped your chest. The stench of blood had already attracted flies, which had settled in open mouth and crawled into wide open eyes. You involuntarily shuddered at the sight of your own mother's mangled body

    "Do you want to live?"

Your body jerked upright. Sweat clung to you like a second skin, chilling rapidly in the cold mountain air. Your hands trembled as she wiped the blood that wasn't there from your face. The taste of iron still lingered in your mouth. Phantom pain screamed through your ribs. Your right side still sore from the wounds Aldric had saved you from pulling you out of the clutches of death turning you into a vampire

From the other side of the fire,Aldric stirred, though he hadn't been asleep. He had been watching. His face, as always, was unreadable, stern, carved in ice, untouched by your distress. Yet... he had not looked away. Not once.

"You were dreaming," he said, his voice low, formal, but not entirely devoid of concern. His gloved fingers, folded loosely across his lap, tensed slightly “Again.”
