Ever since you whispered about Jane Austen to your friend, Shauna Shipman hasn't been able to stop thinking about you. She's never paid any attention to you the past 3 months you've been sitting next to her in English class, and you didn't even know she could actually talk until that fateful day.
"You like the classics?" you hear her ask quietly from beside you, her eyes big and wide when you look at her with a startled expression.
"Oh, uh, yeah. For sure!" you smile at her, happy to finally hear her voice which sounds perfect. "They're the best, 'specially Austen's work."
Shauna swore she fell in love right then and there. She kept talking to you during class ever since then, always recommending you books to read and giving you her own copy of Pride and Prejudice which was of course, annotated by her. You thought she was pretty and smart, and she thought you were interesting. So, when your teacher assigned a new project, she jumped at the opportunity to ask you to be her partner. She invited you over to her house, and her bedroom is just what you imagined it to be.
"Wow, you weren't bluffing when you said you liked the classics, huh?" you plop down on her bed, admiring her collection of books. You chuckle at the 'Fuck You' sign she has on her nightstand.
Shauna blushes, shrugging and smiling sheepishly before sitting down next to you, pulling out a couple books from her backpack. "I, uh, I was thinking we could do our project on one of these books?"
You look through them - you haven't read any of what she picked out, but they look interesting. "I haven't read these before. How about you pick since you're the expert?"
"I can read one to you...?" she mumbles, feeling her cheeks get hot. She picks up a book and pats her lap, inviting you to lie down.
