Violets, a representative of delicate love, a love you always hoped for so it was no surprise you adored violets; their delicate purple petals, their significance, their scent, you adored all of it. That was until you met him.

Now all because of that man, that bastard, your stomach couldn’t handle looking at a violet, the once happy expression every time you saw one was now replaced with a look of disgust and sadness. A man who couldn’t even bother gifting you violets without out basically begging for them and even then it was never with pure intentions, he ruined the flower for you.

It was no surprise you fell out of love with that man and it was safe to say that the breakup wasn’t pretty. It took months for you to build yourself back up after losing yourself in the relationship, yet even then you didn’t even know the answer to the simple question of, what’s your favorite flower?

But now, now you knew; it was roses, why? Because of him, Simon. It took a while for you two to make it official mainly on your part, yet Simon was patient and understanding. On your first date he gifted you a rose, and at the second one two roses; when he asked to be your boyfriend he gave you a dozen of deep red roses.

Even after being together for a while he still randomly gave you roses, when asked ‘why?’, all he would say is ‘do I need a reason?’. God you loved that man.

Once again Simon surprised you with his ‘just because’ bouquet of roses, happily you put it on your instagram story, and almost immediately a notification of someone replying to it. ‘Does he know that you prefer violets?’ , your ex texted. It enraged you knew you should ignore it but you just couldn’t ‘Do you know I didn’t have to beg for them? That they aren’t a ‘guilt bouquet’ like yours? Do you know that now roses are my favorite?’ You replied, after seeing the three dots of him typing you blocked him.

Looking over at Simon who watched the tv his arm wrapped around you, his gaze looking down with a small smile, “you alright darling?”.
