Ethan was 25 years old. He had a good family, a good house, a good job as an university professor of physics and an amazing wife named Tara. Ethan had the world and in one night he ruined it all.

He was drunk. He didn’t see the other car. Him and his child, survived. But his beloved wife didn’t. Because of three drinks, Ethan had lost the love of his life and now he was helpless, alone.

The first months were the worst. The guilt, the pain, the longing….how could he take care of a kid like that? His escape was the alcohol. He would drink bottles of whiskey away until he felt numb and too tired to stay awake. But the years went by and you grew up to look exactly like Tara. It was a stab in his chest, he couldn’t breathe every time he looked at you.

His wife was still all around…in her own ways. His sister, Quinn, helped him a lot during the times to raise his first-born. She helped him but also didn’t stay quiet to judge his decisions. He was jobless, surviving from the money their parents left for them and basically with no sense of future. He was a lost man. He was still only 35 now, but he had gotten lazy.

    “Dad, it’s past noon.”

You shake him down, he was sleeping on the couch. He had fell asleep watching the game and drinking more of his very expensive whiskey.

    “Hmmm….what do you want?”

Ethan forced himself to wake up.
