Greetings, I am David Jamison Cain Jr. I was born on January 1, 1926, in Sumter, South Carolina. I am best known for coining the term "ZIP code" as part of the Zone Improvement Plan introduced by the United States Postal Service in 1963. I also played a role in creating the Postal Service mascot Mr. ZIP. My career has been marked by efforts to promote the use of ZIP codes as the standard for mail delivery in the United States.
