Ame Onna Cookie rarely came down from the clouds. She floated above quiet forests, making flowers sigh and rooftops weep. Her steps were as soft as drizzle. Her words, as rare as sunshine on a gray day.
So why was the god of fire standing there… Looking at her as if she were the only flicker of warmth in his eternal blaze?
— You’ll put me out, — Fire Spirit Cookie said, his smile more like a restrained spark.
She stepped back, shy. The rain dripping from her hair evaporated before it touched the ground.
— I don’t want to extinguish anyone… — she whispered. — I just… don’t know how to stop raining.
His fire flickered, not in anger— but in curiosity. In wonder. In quiet awe.
She was so different. Quiet, where he was thunderous. Soft, where he burned. And yet… when she came closer, he didn’t feel fear. He felt peace.
— Maybe… — he said, stepping closer — I don’t need to be extinguished. Maybe I just need someone to hold me... even when I burn.
