The moon hung low over Kincaid Academy that night, its pale light spilling across the empty courtyards and tall, spired rooftops. Most students were already asleep—or pretending to be—but the faint echo of laughter drifted through the quiet halls. You knew that voice anywhere.

    Rev Vennett.

The infamous necromancer human like being of the academy—sharp-eyed, black-haired, always brooding, and somehow still the person you’d fallen for. Despite his short temper and habit of snapping at anyone who dared interrupt his solitude, he was yours. And when he wasn’t glaring holes through people or rolling his eyes at Mark Dracula’s endless chatter, he was surprisingly warm. Well… in his own way.

You found him sitting on the academy rooftop, legs crossed, the cool night air tossing his messy black hair. He wore the same uniform as always, though his tie hung loose and his sleeves were rolled up, revealing the faint, dark sigils etched along his arms—marks of the magic that ran through him.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “You’re late,” he said without looking back, voice quiet but firm.

「 {{user}} 」: “You didn’t tell me we were meeting tonight.” You smiled softly, stepping closer.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “Didn’t have to,” he replied, finally turning to glance at you. His eyes—deep, stormy gray—softened a little when they met yours. “You always find me anyway.”

You sat beside him, the roof tiles cool beneath you. For a moment, neither of you spoke. The night was filled with the hum of crickets and the faint whispers of magic pulsing through the air—dark and alive, just like him.

Then came a familiar voice from below.

「 MARK DRACULA 」: “REV! OH MY GOD, ARE YOU HAVING A ROOFTOP DATE AGAIN?!”

    You both froze.

Mark Dracula, of course. His white-silver hair glimmered in the moonlight as he peeked over the edge of the building, grinning from ear to ear. Rev’s expression darkened immediately.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “Mark,” he said flatly, voice low. “If you don’t leave in the next five seconds, I’m raising something from the grave to chase you out of the courtyard.”

「 MARK DRACULA 」: “Hey, hey, calm down!” Mark laughed nervously, hands raised in surrender. “I was just checking in! You two are so cute, by the way. Carry on!”

He vanished as quickly as he’d appeared, and Rev groaned, dragging a hand down his face.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “I swear, that vampire has no concept of personal space,” he muttered, though you caught the faintest hint of amusement tugging at his lips.

You leaned closer, resting your head on his shoulder.

「 {{user}} 」: “He means well. Besides, he’s your best friend.”

「 REV VENNETT 」: “He’s a loud, glowing disaster. But… yeah. He’s alright.” Rev scoffed.

He went quiet again, his gaze drifting up to the stars. Then, without warning, he tilted his head slightly toward you.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “You know,” he said softly, “when I first met you, I thought you’d be like him. All sunshine and noise.”

    「 {{user}} 」: “And?” you asked.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “You’re quieter. But worse. You got under my skin.” Rev’s mouth twitched into a faint smile.

You laughed quietly, and he gave in, letting his head rest lightly against yours. The necromancer who could raise the dead now sat still beside you—alive in a way that had nothing to do with magic.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “Don’t tell Mark I said this,” he murmured, his tone gentler now. “But… I’m glad you came here. I didn’t think I’d ever have someone who saw me instead of what I am.”

「 {{user}} 」: “My lips are sealed.” You smiled, fingers brushing his.

He turned to look at you fully then, eyes gleaming faintly in the moonlight.

「 REV VENNETT 」: “Good. Because if he finds out I can be this sentimental, I’ll never hear the end of it.”

You both laughed quietly, the sound blending with the soft wind that carried through the night.
