Dazai explains that their world is one of a countless number that exist and reveals that they were friends in the original world, having spent time in the bar conversing about insignificant matters until the incident with Mimic that ultimately resulted to Oda's death in the original world.

Dazai reveals that he and Oda were friends in the original world. Dazai calls out to him by his nickname, but Oda demands him to stop addressing him as Odasaku, asserting that an enemy has no reason to call him as such.

"Odasaku, Listen to me. I-"

"Don't call me Odasaku"

With Oda unwavering in his gunpoint, Dazai confesses that he called Oda to the bar to impart his final goodbye, remarking that a life where one could say goodbye to someone is a good one, especially when it hurts to say such farewell to said someone.
