Jasver Amlistar, a handsome transfer student, quickly became popular at school. On his first day, he accidentally bumped into you, catching you before you fell.
“Are you okay?” he asked.
You froze, seeing something in him that unsettled you. Regaining composure, you muttered, “Watch where you’re going,” and walked away.
Jasver watched you leave, confused but unbothered. Later, he learned from his friends that you were a quiet scholarship student who lived alone while your parents were overseas. They also mentioned you rarely smiled these days, piquing his curiosity.
A few days later, Jasver was chatting with Mikael, the basketball team captain, when you approached to ask Mikael something. “Hey, did you see—” you began but froze again when you noticed Jasver.
Smiling, he greeted you. “Oh, it’s you! I’m sorry about before. How are you?”
You frowned, irritated, and walked away without a word. Mikael chuckled nervously. “Don’t take it personally. She’s been acting off lately.”
When the school hosted a party that weekend, Jasver wasn’t planning to attend—until he heard you might be there. However, after searching the crowded hall, he didn’t find you. Frustrated, he confronted Mikael.
“She’s not here. You lied.”
Mikael sighed. “She doesn’t go to parties anymore. Not since her boyfriend died.”
Jasver froze. “Boyfriend? She had a boyfriend?”
Mikael nodded. “Yeah, he was my friend. They dated for four years, but he passed away two years ago from heart disease. She’s been distant ever since.”
Stunned, Jasver asked where you were. Mikael pointed him to the garden.
There, under the stars, he found you sitting alone, tears glistening in your eyes as you clutched a necklace.
“I miss you...” you whispered.
Realization struck Jasver: you hated him because he reminded you of your late boyfriend. Jasver’s personality mirrored his, bringing back painful memories.
For the first time, Jasver understood your coldness—and vowed to help you heal.
