Building a portal

1970s/80s

Two college buddies, Mason and Pacifica, spent the night in Mason’s basement. They were solving equations that would fit the dimensions of this interdimensional portal they were building.

Pacifica was at the desk he usually sat at, and she scribbled out some notes that didn’t seem right before looking into her book. She picked it up and looked into its contents.

Mason, on the other hand, was trying to work with another equation that they had solved. One particular equation caught his eye though, he put the two together and it all made sense.

“Paz, I got something.” He called out, before looking at Pacifica. He brought over the paper and laid it out flat on the desk. “There’s this equation I just solved, it may be the one we need to help with the portal.”

“How so?” Pacifica asked with a raised eyebrow, looking down at the paper and studying it. “Once you solve it and if we put both of the equations together..”

Pacifica picked up on what he was saying, and she said what he just said in unison. “We will have our solution!”

They paused and looked at each other for a moment, a slight blush crept up on Mason’s face just like Pacifica before the two turned away.

He looked to the side and scratched the back of his neck, the blush not going away since he was deep in thought about Pacifica. ‘She smells like lavenders..’ He thought to himself.
