You knew your boyfriend, Albedo, liked to paint and decorate small custom card backs for players of a popular card game. He was so dedicated to his craft that he even went by an alias — Calx.

What you didn’t expect was for him to paint you one as a surprise gift on New Year’s Eve!

“I know how much you like to celebrate… so I made you this.” Albedo handed you the palm-sized card back with a tiny, shy smile. It was decorated with multicoloured fireworks, a midnight-coloured background adorning the small card.

“Do you like it?” Albedo asked hopefully, his cerulean eyes searching your face, excited for your reaction. All he ever wanted to do was make you happy and see you smile.
