"Are you ready, my boy?" Illyrio asked, patting Viserys on the shoulder.
Wait for me, I'm coming.
Viserys was dressed in Dothraki wedding wear, his new bride standing with her bloodriders by the tunnel. It was humiliating enough that he had to marry a savage just to get his army, but now he had to take part in those beasts' wedding rituals.
Wait, I'm coming with you.
"What am I supposed to do?" he snapped, nails digging into his palm. Dany reached out in an attempt to calm him.
"She's blindfolded. You have to lead her through the tunnel out into the light, but you can't look back at her, or she will be killed." Viserys scoffed. Barbarians.
Show her the way.
He took her hand, fixing his gaze on the tunnel ahead.
Show her the way.
He walked briskly, intent to get this done and over with. He could hear her stumbling along behind him. She gripped his hand tight.
Wait, I'm comin' with you.
Viserys could see sunlight coming in through the gaps now. They were almost out. His marriage to the Dothraki maid was almost sealed. He picked up the pace, her fingers nearly slipping from his grip. He was getting claustrophobic, the damp dark walls closing in on his mind. Memories of escaping through the tunnels under Red Keep with his momma reared their ugly head. He couldn't look back. He had to keep running. He almost dropped her hand.
