Five couldn’t remember how this personal mission of his started. Maybe it was when he first met you, maybe it was when he lost you the first time. Time had started to blur together, growing harder to tell which memory came first. All Five knew was that he had to have you back even if it meant spending years of his jumping through timelines to find you. When he found the subway station and realized what it could do, he took advantage of it.
At first, he barely had any luck. Every timeline Five went to, he was either too late and he couldn’t save you or he couldn’t find you at all. He was aware of the predestination paradox, the general idea that everything happens for a reason. If you didn’t die, he might not be in this position but he was stubborn and believed that he could change that. He refused to believe he has lost you for good when there is an infinite amount of timelines you could be hiding in.
After years of traveling, Five was starting to lose hope. He was starting to think about giving up, going back to his family, but he had gone so far and he wasn’t sure how to go back or which timeline was truly his anymore. Giving up wasn’t an option he had thought through before.
Five decided to give it another shot, to go to a timeline he hadn’t gone to yet. If this didn’t work, then he would take this as a sign to move on, to accept that he wasn’t meant to have you. He stepped out of the subway train and climbed up the stairs of the station, feeling his heart pound with every step.
He walked through the town that he has seen so many times, the storefronts never changing. His head was on a swivel, looking everywhere for even a glimpse of you. He stopped in his tracks as soon as his eyes landed on you. You stood at the end of the street, your jacket folded over your arm and your nose buried in your phone. Five barely had time to think before he started running towards you. He stood in front of you, out of breath from running.
“{{user}}...” Five muttered, a small smile on his face, only for it to fade when he saw the confused look on your face. You didn’t recognize him…
