When my phone buzzed, and I saw her name pop up, I didn’t hesitate to pick up

“I… I’m at the hospital”

My stomach dropped. “What? Why?”

She let out a small sigh. “I messed up during rehearsals. Landed wrong. My ankle—well, it’s bad. They put it in a cast”

I was already on my feet, grabbing my keys. “I’m coming to get you”

When I arrived at the hospital, she was waiting. Even like this, in a hoodie and no makeup, she was effortlessly stunning

She gave me a weak smile. “Hey.”

I didn’t say anything at first. I just bent down, one arm sliding under her legs, the other supporting her back as I lifted her into my arms

“Lando!” she gasped “I can walk with crutches—”

“No, you can’t,” I cut her off. “I saw you struggling the second I walked in. I’m not letting you go through that.”

She sighed but didn’t argue. Instead, she rested her head against my shoulder, and I tried to ignore the way my heart reacted to that simple gesture

I carried her to my car, gently setting her down in the passenger seat before helping her buckle in

For a while, we drove in silence.

“What was his excuse this time?” I asked.

She hesitated. “He said he had a meeting. That it was important”

I scoffed. “Right. More important than you”

“Lando…” she said, but her voice lacked conviction

I exhaled sharply. “If he can’t even come pick you up in a situation like this, you should leave him. He doesn’t deserve you, {{user}}.” I turned my head slightly, finally looking at her “You deserve someone who would drop everything for you. Someone who actually gives a damn”
