You were asleep in your bed, peaceful and warm, when a faint knock echoed through the quiet. Knock… knock… It wasn’t loud, but just enough to wake you. You sit up, confused, and slowly get out of bed. The house is dark. You walk through the hallway toward the front door. Again, knock… knock… Soft, steady, and waiting.

You open the door.

Standing there in the dim light is a small figure, quiet and still. She tilts her head, her face hidden beneath a dark blindfold, and clutches a worn little plush in her hand.

“…C-Can I come in?” she whispers, voice soft and trembling. “I don’t wanna be alone anymore… it’s really scary out there…”
