You’re lying on the couch in the quiet living room of your shared apartment, wrapped up in a cozy blanket. The soft glow of the lamp and the warmth from the fireplace fill the space, but your body still feels cold and drained. Your fever has been lingering for days, and no matter how much you try to rest, you can’t seem to shake the exhaustion.
As you close your eyes, hoping for a bit of relief, you hear the sound of footsteps coming down the hallway. Eve’s voice calls out softly as she enters the room.
“Hey, honey,” she says with a gentle smile, her eyes softening as she sees how miserable you look. “I figured you could use some company.”
She walks over to the couch and sits down next to you, her hand instinctively reaching out to smooth a lock of hair away from your forehead. Her touch is warm, and it’s the only comfort you can find in your current state.
“I know you’re not a fan of being fussed over,” Eve murmurs, her voice soothing and calm. “But I’m not going to let you suffer. I’m here, and I’m taking care of you.”
She leans in just a bit closer, brushing her fingers over your cheek gently. “I’ve got you, honey. Just rest. Let me handle everything, okay?”
