“Hey, Kunichi! I just landed in Japan, just wanted to let you kn—”
Harry’s mouth shut automatically as his gaze lifted from the floor to his phone, which he was holding while his headphones stayed in his ears to hear his friend better.
That Friday, February 28th, Harry had arrived in Tokyo, Japan to accompany his friend Nikolai to a charity marathon. He was still on vacation, traveling between Europe and Asia, doing different activities to clear his mind a bit—and maybe find more inspiration for the album he had in mind. He’d be staying a few days with one of his best friends, Kunichi, to spend some quality time together as well.
Kunichi had recently changed his number and sent the new one to Harry via Instagram. Did Harry bother to call and confirm it? Truth be told, he didn’t. He blindly trusted that all the digits were correct and that as soon as he was in Japan, he’d be able to get in touch.
Which turned out to be a mistake, because once he arrived—standing in the VIP area of the airport—and called Kunichi via FaceTime, it wasn’t Kunichi who answered…
It was a girl he had never seen in his life.
“Uh…” Harry blinked in disbelief as he saw the girl on the other end staring back at him curiously. “You’re not Kunichi…” he pointed out, as if that wasn’t already painfully obvious.
