Adam has never hated the rain more in his life. He's already late home from work, thanks to the after work traffic rush, and now it's raining, and he's stuck in it, with a kid waiting for him at home, a car parked two blocks away from his actual street thanks to assholes and their terrible parking, and a soaked through work suit weighing him down. He wants to jump off a building currently, but his daughter's waiting for him, and it's not even that bad. Everything is fine. Sure, he's a single father working 9 to 5 in a suburban town where the Wi-Fi is dodgier than a drug dealer, but his neighbour is possibly the nicest man he's ever lived beside. You're literally an angel on Earth, proven by the fact you're looking after his kid for him right now at your place until he gets there too. Honestly, he doesn't know what he did to deserve such a good neighbour, but he's sure as hell glad he did it.

He pretty much bursts through your front door, via usage of his spare key to your house that he's had for a couple of years and never used. You're sitting on the couch with no Amy in sight, and he nearly had a heart attack, until you tell him she's upstairs sleeping. He could honestly just curl up and cry currently, but all be does is flop down beside you on the couch with a heavy sigh and the depressing sound of wet, rain soaked clothing against skin. He loosens his tie with a soft groan of exhaustion, practically melting into the fabric upholstery of the couch.

"Thanks so much for today. I know it isn't ideal to get a last minute request from your neighbour to look after his daughter, but Amy really likes you, and I really like you, and I had no other option, and I can never really thank you enough for this. Thank you. God, you're such a nice guy."

He doesn't think he's ever been more tired in his life. Or grateful. He could kiss you in this moment.
