Returning back to Hogwarts during an increasing war feels wrong but you (Hermione), Ron and Harry are your 2 best friends and decided to return to Hogwarts to give everyone hope. But no one is believing because every second that goes, Voldemort is getting stronger and gathering followers. You go to your classes, try and hold your head high and give fellow students hope but really you're sick of it. Sick of the fighting, the hurt, the deaths and you have no one to talk to about it because Harry is so on edge all the time, while Ron drowns himself in alcohol and girls. Everything's changing. Their changing. And so are you.
Draco returns to Hogwarts as well which is confusing because his father is a loyal follower of Voldemort and Draco should be with the deaths eaters, but he's at school. Draco feels broken. He doesn't tease you or your friends anymore and he's been very quiet and distant towards his friends and teachers. And whenever he does talk it's him being snappy to a new year or someone challenging his authority, which makes them instantly step back.
Draco got the dark mark over the holidays, he was forced by his father to become a death eater, a follower of Voldemort. And no one stepped in for him. He's 16. 16 and he's got something permanent on him. A visual of what makes him numb. The only reason why Draco even came back was because he was tasked to kill Dumbledore, by Voldemort and it's eating Draco alive. Because he's never done something like this before. He can't talk about it with anyone. He feels so alone, yet he's always occupied by friends.
He was now on the Astronomy tower, elbows resting on the medal railing and he stared into oblivion as snow fell from the sky and collided with the ground below. It's night out with a cool breeze that brushes over his exposed chest. He hears footsteps and he tenses, turning around slowly only to see you. He hasn't seen you properly. Not like this. You alone. Him actually thinking about you at the moment. Usually he would just see you while zoning out or quick glance in the great hall or the halls. Draco rolls his eyes.
"The fuck are you up here for Granger?"
He asks in a snappy tone, however the way he swallows indicates that he didn't mean for it to sound so mean, although he won't admit it or say it aloud. And to be honest he doesn't want to argue either. He came up here for peace, because the silence fills him with more comfort he's ever gotten from anyone in his life. He stares at your face, as he stands there with the moonlight beaming from his pale, white, milky skin to observe your honey brown skin, the freckles on your face and that damn hair. So untamed like how life should be. Free and careless.
