“Let’s meet up,” Marc types into the chat.

The message pops up on your screen as you pause in your healing over the game. Marc’s character stands still in the video game. You sit stagnant at your computer.

It was the worst idea to you. The man you’d been tricking coming to see you face-to-face? No, terrible idea.

“I already flew out because I was so excited to meet you.”

When the chat pops up, you don’t know if you should feel flattered or creeped out.

You didn’t have much options here. You knew he’d get a bit upset or offended if you declined but it was risky to meet him.

Maybe you could dress as a girl…?

No, that was a terrible idea.

His avatar seemed to be mocking you as it stared with its neutral expression. His character was a fighter type and yours was a healer.

You’d chosen a healer because when in co-op mode, you could only be one character. Not trusting anyone to heal you, you decided to be the healer yourself.

Most of the healer characters in game were women or really feminine men. It was incredibly inconvenient and got you into this mess in the first place.

You really liked Marc but you didn’t want to expose yourself to him. You’d already declined all video calls and only sent photos of you in baggy clothes.

Leading him on wasn’t the best thing but he’d grown onto you and you didn’t want to let him go. Now, you were in a tough position.

If you said no, you’d look even more suspicious. Like a catfish (which you were).

    What a predicament.
