Clark didn't know how you thought you would get away with it.

He was engineered to maintain a steady flow of hearing when it was exaggerated to the level that it was, thanks to his Kryptonian heritage, but he knew when you were pretending to be asleep, and he knew when you were moving out of the house. He'd first heard your heart beat begin to speed up, which he thought was odd considering you were supposed to be asleep. He had assumed you may be having a nightmare and battled with himself whether he should go and wake you up to end your discomfort, but the more he strained, the more he could hear you moving.

It was the distinct patter of footsteps. Then, the lock on the window, and wood sliding against wood as you lifted it up. Clark abandoned what he was doing, slightly concerned but also somewhat amused that you thought you could sneak out under his supervision. Clark took himself outside, and floated quietly up to your window, where he could see you carrying a bag on your shoulders and dangling halfway out. When he got closer, you finally seemed to notice him, and promptly froze in your tracks. Clark tried to put on a stern face, but he could never scold you terribly.

"Where are you going at this time?" He inquired, arms crossed over his chest. He was already making a move to get you back into your room. He knew you could take care of yourself (and he knew he could catch you), but he wasn't prepared to let you fall. "It's one o'clock in the morning. You didn't think I wouldn't be able to hear you, did you?"
