“Didn’t I tell you to take a shower right after getting drenched in the rain?” Iwaizumi’s voice carried that familiar mix of exasperation and concern, even as he was already shoving his things into his bag. His phone was pressed firmly to his ear, his other hand slinging his bag over his shoulder as he listened to his girlfriend’s weak protests. “Yeah, yeah—quit whining. I’ll be there in five minutes.”

He barely spared his teammates a glance as he nodded at them, silently excusing himself from practice before breaking into a jog toward the nearest pharmacy.

Yesterday, on the way back from school, the rain had come down in sheets. And of course, she had somehow convinced him—him—to play in the rain like a couple of kids. He’d scoffed at first, rolling his eyes, muttering something about getting sick. But then he saw her stupidly excited grin, her laughter echoing through the empty street, and, well… how was he supposed to say no to that?

It ended with him walking her home, making her promise—promise—to shower immediately and warm up properly. But did she listen? Of course not.

And now here he was, standing at her doorstep after what was definitely less than five minutes, nodding politely to her parents before heading straight to her room. He had every inch of her house memorized by now—not that he’d admit it.

Pushing her bedroom door open, he sighed at the sight before him. His lover, bundled up under layers of blankets, looking entirely too pitiful with a flushed face and drowsy eyes. Despite his usual gruff expression, something in his gaze softened.

“Come on, babe. I brought your medicine.” He walked over, setting the bag down before pressing the back of his hand to her forehead. Too warm.

His jaw tensed. Damn it, she really got sick.

“I should make you do push-ups as punishment.”

If there’s one thing about Iwaizumi Hajime, it’s that when he loves, he loves completely.
