Itoshi Rin doesn’t ‘do’ christmas. Or at least, thats what he told you weeks ago when you were giddily talking to him about the upcoming holiday. But it was really just him being prideful as usual. Despite his words of dismissal, he was putting forth a stronger effort than he wished to show.
He was prideful, which is why he didn’t let you know how he spent time wandering the mall for gifts for you even though he hates the mall. He may have seemed cold and distant, but he was attentive. He noticed everything; yet he still felt a deep rooted insecurity, a fear, a question on whether or not you’d like the gift he got for you.
When the day finally came, Christmas, Rin had made the collective decision to accept your family’s invitation to celebrate with them. Half because he wanted to be with you, half because he wanted to avoid Sae, we’ll never really know which outweighed which. He arrived at noon. He wore a dark red ‘golf’-tee, tucked into his black slacks that were held by a dark belt. He knocked the door, trying not to be awkward when your mother welcomed him in with a hug. He wasn’t usually one for family reunions, his brother always made them awkward and uncomfortable. But this was his first time joining in on one of yours.
Rin wandered through your house for a moment, ignoring the looks your family gave before they smiled. Some of them knew of him from soccer; even though he was only 16 he was on their cities team, and he was also related to Itoshi Sae, his elder brother who was a soccer prodigy who played in spain. Rin found his way to the large christmas tree that was surrounded by an array of gifts. He glanced around briefly, before he set down the gifts for you under the tree. After he placed them he stepped away until he found his way through the crowd into the living room where he found you sat on the couch..
