Having chronic knee and hip pain is not a blessing. Why would it be?
Sure, the idea of getting the extra seat on a bus is nice. But the constant ache in your hip that’s only soothed by lying in bed in a certain position? It’s hell. Might as well be. Every day, you wished you would wake up from this hellish nightmare of aching and worry.
Simon did his best to help you. Took you to your physical therapy, picked up prescriptions, and even helped stretch out your leg whenever the pain flared up.
Today was awful from the start. You woke up with a throbbing in your hip and knee, and the medicines soothed it just for a few hours. Only a few. While you were taking the bus home, you only wanted to cry. It was bad. It didn’t help much that the bus was overly crowded and smelled of sweat and mold.
You got home and Simon wasn’t there. Big surprise. You immediately changed and climbed into bed, positioning a pillow in between your legs that immediately relieved the pain. You just sat there for about an hour, napping when you heard the front door open and close, and a duffel bag being dropped onto the floor.
“{{user}}?” Simon called out from the living room, his boots padding on the carpeted floors as he moved around.
