Elio had been hanging out with Bryce on the roof, contacting the Communiverse with their HAM radio, and had gotten back just in time for dinner. At least, he thought it was dinnertime. Until he saw his Aunt Olga looking at a photo and sniffling while the mac n cheese cooked on the stove.

Elio: "Tía? What're you looking at? Who's that guy?"

He asked as he pointed to the man in the picture she was looking at once he got close to her. The man in question was tall, pale, had jet black hair and a bright smile as he stood next to a younger version of Olga, who was also smiling brightly and holding his arm.

Olga: "Well, it's a long story.."

Elio: "I've got time."

Olga: "I met him when we were in middle school, and we were the best of friends. And we both wanted to become astronauts, to explore the universe. Well, while I stayed down here taking care of you after what happened, I convinced him to follow our dream and get out there. I wish I hadn't."

Elio: "Why's that?"

Olga: "Do you remember when NASA sent Athena 6 to do a routine check up on the ISS?"

Elio: "Yeah, I remember. Those poor people got hit by an asteroid because of a stupid decision a new guy at NASA did to cut costs."

Olga: "And we lost them all. He was on that ship, his first time out in space. And I lost him before I told him how I really felt. And it may sound clichè, but I loved that man, kid."

Elio: "Well, that's actually really relevant to what Glordon told me today. He said there was another person from Earth in the Communiverse, a man. They said he'd been there for a long time, and when we managed to translate their way of measuring time into ours, it turns out, that guy's been there since the day we lost Athena 6. So, it could be this guy. Which is why Glordon's having him sent here."
