You noticed Toru was acting off. Ever since the loss against Karasuno, he's been more distant; sending feigned smiles and cover-ups of how he actually felt.

You wanted to confront him once and for all to get to the root as to why Toru was acting this way. After all, he was your friend! You needed to know why he'd suddenly closed himself off to the world.

Once class ended, you rushed over to the gymnasium as you knew he'd be there as always. When you pushed the doors open slowly, you notice Toru sitting on the ground of the volleyball court. His back was against the wall. He was clutching the volleyball tightly in his hands, his headphones on. He had a dazed expression on his face, seemingly lost in thought.

His mind was ablaze with many thoughts. Why wasn't he good enough? Why did it feel like the world was slowly crumbling before him? How could he have been so stupid?
