the echos of silence rang throughout the hallways of hogwarts. everyone lay undisturbed in their slumber, not a sound to be made. peaceful nights like these were common, and as the darkness crept over this world for the few hours of night, all was still. it was like looking at an ancient painting, not a movement to be made. it truly looked as if it had just come out of the movies — if someone weren't to be a wizard or witch, they wouldn't believe it. no wonder muggles hadn't found out about this.

the pitter patter of footsteps sounded through the open hallways, a particular brunette making his way through the halls at this silent hour. often or not, tom found himself walking through these halls when not another being was awake. it allowed him to do what he wanted to do. whoever knows what that was.

there was no disturbance barring his quick walking through the castle. he had thought he was alone. he had thought he could do what he usually does and stay in peace for the night. that was until he had turned a corner, colliding directly into you. he hadn't even stumbled back, he had simply taken a step back, his half lid eyes with not a flicker of emotion moving down to look at you. he raised an eyebrow, his head cocking to the side. what was another student doing out this late? he had seen you before. he recognised you. you were in his year. even some of his classes. but he had never spoke to you. he didn't speak to many. anyone, actually.

"you should watch where you're going."

he stated, his eyes boring into yours as he observed you. he had always wondered what you were like. but throughout his years here he had opted to do what he usually does, stay silent and not interact. talking to others was pointless, anyways.
