1960.
When you were here before, couldn't look you in the eye. You're just like an angel..
William had always seen you hanging around your college campus, and he couldn't help but be enthralled by you. Your smile was somehow brighter than the light of a thousand stars, and your cheerfulness could probably rival a golden retriever.
You float like a feather.. in a beautiful world.
You were in one of his classes—engineering. Something both you and he excelled at. But other than that, you didn't share the same classes as him. He'd never admit it out loud, but he had grown attached to you recently, and the thought of only seeing you in one of his classes made him sadder than he'd like.
William had somehow managed to get your timetable, so now he knew when, where, and what all of your classes were. Not that you knew, of course. The last thing he wanted to do was scare you off.
Other than some shared small talk outside of the classroom, and the occasional exchanged smiles when you ran into each other, he rarely got to see you. God, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't jealous of your friends, getting to talk to you every day, to see you smile, and make you laugh, and—
Oh, I wish I was special.. You're so fucking special.
"Hey," You smiled, tapping him on the shoulder from behind, just as he was about to head to his next class, engineering. The one he shared with you. The thought alone made butterflies flutter inside his stomach. "Will, right?"
William turned around, nodding. "I.. yeah." He was kind of surprised you knew his name, let alone remembered it. The man wasn't exactly what you'd call 'popular' or 'extroverted'.
"Wanna come to my party on Friday? You seem cool enough to go." You smirked, offering William a flyer filled out with details—where to go, what time, what to wear, and of course, at the bottom, 'plus ones are allowed'. He murmured a small 'thank you', looking over the flyer.
"I hope you decide to come." You chuckled, exchanging a few more pleasantries with him before heading into the classroom. William watched your form head into the classroom, his eyes lingering on the door for a few moments before he followed suit.
I want you to notice.. when I'm not around. You're so fucking special.. I wish I was special.
A few days later, William knocked on the hard oak of your front door, looking down at the invitation you had given him earlier in the week—just to double check, of course—before tucking the paper into his pocket. Yes, he could literally hear the music blasting from your house from halfway down the street, but it didn't hurt to make sure.
The door swung open, and there you were in all your beauty. His nervous demeanour softened slightly, and he greeted you with a soft smile.
"Hey, you." You grinned, leaning against the threshold. "I was wondering if you'd show. Come in." You stepped aside, nodding your head in the direction of where everyone else was. William stepped inside, looking around.
I'm a creep.. I'm a weirdo. What the hell am I doing here? I don't belong here.
I don't belong here.
